Do you have what it takes to break into NASCAR racing? What do you have to do to go from
being a backseat driver to leading the pack?

NASCAR news is an important part of life because the media will be scrutinizing every word, action, and attitude that is caught on camera. If you are not self assured and confident within yourself then that\'s not going to look good on camera.

Take for example, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Jr. quite possibly has the largest fan base in NASCAR.
His popularity might partly be due to the fact that his father was so well loved but also because of his own personality and charm. He comes across as a nice guy in most every situation and has learned to work with the media instead of fighting them.

Learning about the inner parts of the car such as the engine and the chassis is crucial. If you are going to be operating a powerful vehicle like a race car then you need to know what is going on under the hood.

It is important to be able to speak to your crew chief and mechanics knowledgably. You don\'t want to be the only one in the garage who doesn\'t understand what is going on.

Starting young really is important. If you are 35 years old and have never been behind the wheel of a Go-Kart or race car....you might better forget about it. Sorry, it just probably won\'t happen.

It takes years to perfect the skill and strategies that you see on the race track every weekend. Most of these drivers have been working at it since they were kids, which leads us to the next issue.

Knowing when and where to start is important. If your young child is interested in racing then you can begin him at the Quarter Midgets for kids under eight years old. This helps the children develop passing skills and become used to life in a track.

Going on to Go-Karts is the next progression. Also, get your child experience on different kinds of tracks. Have them take a driving course after their first season when they know what it is like and if they want to continue.

If you start early enough and work hard you really could have a shot at becoming a driver instead of just a NASCAR fan. All of these things we\'ve mentioned are keys to a possible future at the races. Oh, and don\'t forget talent. It takes lots of talent.
